A+Technical Description
The Fermat WRF Series is a robust floor-type horizontal boring and milling machine engineered for precision machining of large, heavy workpieces in aerospace, energy, and industrial manufacturing sectors. This CNC-controlled machine features a horizontal spindle with CAT 50 taper (BT 50 optional) operating at speeds up to 3,100 RPM with 75 HP standard output, expandable to 80 HP. The machine accommodates workpieces weighing up to 55,000 lbs on a standard 80.7" × 80.7" table, with optional larger 118" × 118" configurations and optional rotary or index tables for complex multi-axis operations. Four-axis capability provides X-axis travel of 94" (expandable to 1,106"), Y-axis travel up to 78" (236" optional), and Z-axis travel of 35.4", with rapid traverse rates of 787 ipm on primary axes and rapid feed capabilities of up to 20,000 mm/min. The machine features an optional automatic tool changer (ATC) with standard 20-tool capacity, expandable to 90 tools, delivering 15-second tool changes with 20-second chip-clearing cycles. Advanced CNC control systems—including Heidenhain, SIEMENS, or FANUC options—ensure repeatable precision for surfacing, contouring, slotting, and complex component production. The WRF series efficiently processes steel, aluminum, and titanium, delivering the power and rigidity necessary for demanding production schedules while maintaining exacting manufacturing standards.
