Technical Description

The Fermat WRFT Series Horizontal Machining Center is a robust machine designed for heavy-duty precision machining of large workpieces up to 55,000 lbs. It features a horizontal spindle with a CAT 50 taper (optional BT 50) capable of reaching up to 3,100 RPM, powered by a motor rated at 75 HP (80 HP optional). The machine supports a large table size of 78" x 78" with an optional extension to 78" x 98", accommodating substantial workpieces. This center operates on six axes, excluding a U axis, providing comprehensive multi-directional machining capabilities with travels of up to 94" in X, 78" in Y, and 82" in Z, and a full 360° B-axis rotation, offering remarkable versatility for complex parts. Tooling options include an automatic tool changer (ATC) with standard 20 tools, expandable to 90 tools, facilitating efficient tool management with change times of 15 to 20 seconds. A pallet changer system is also optional, supporting two pallets for enhanced workflow. The machine’s maximum rapid traverse speed is 787 IPM on all linear axes, enabling high productivity. The WRFT's design is based on a sturdy “T” bed configuration derived from Fermat’s WRF Floor Type Series but optimized for horizontal table travel and CNC rotary table functionality, addressing the needs of industries requiring heavy and precise machining such as aerospace, energy, and heavy equipment manufacturing. Its strong build, high power spindle, and extensive axis travel make it capable of handling large, complex, and heavy parts with high precision and throughput.
