Technical Description

The Hankook PROTEC 9N is a heavy-duty CNC horizontal lathe engineered for precision turning operations on large shafts and components. This 2-axis machine features a robust construction with a maximum swing of 37.4 inches and turning diameter capacity of 24.8 inches over the bed. The main spindle operates at 1,000 RPM with 25 HP standard power, offering optional 800 RPM/30 HP configuration for increased torque during heavy interrupted cutting. The spindle accommodates a 24-inch chuck for secure workpiece holding and delivers up to 73 inches of maximum turning length, expandable to 309 inches with optional Z-axis configuration. The machine utilizes a Curvic coupling square tool post with capacity for four turning tools, enabling single-point cutting operations with exceptional stability. Both X and Z axes feature high-precision ball screws with servo motors, providing rapid traverse rates of 157 ipm and 157 ipm respectively, along with electronic hand wheels for intuitive operator control. The X-axis travel spans 21.1 inches while standard Z-axis travel reaches 73 inches. An integrated live tailstock with MT#6 center accommodates loads up to 5,000 kg (11,000 lbs) between centers, featuring a 180 mm quill diameter and 250 mm quill stroke. The extra-wide one-piece cast iron bed with induction-hardened guide ways and full automatic lubrication ensures extended machine life and superior accuracy for demanding aerospace, automotive, and heavy machinery applications.
