A+Technical Description
The Heckert HEC 500 Athletic is a high-performance horizontal machining center designed for demanding metalworking applications. It features a 19.7" x 19.7" standard table with an optional extended length of 24.8", supporting workpieces up to 2,200 lbs. The machine operates on 3 to 4 axes, with travels of 39.3" (X), 31.5" or 37.4" (Y, optional), and 39.3" (Z), and a full 360° B-axis rotation, enabling precise multi-dimensional machining. The spindle is horizontally oriented, utilizing an HSK-A 100 taper, rated at 67 HP with a standard top speed of 6,000 RPM, optionally upgradeable to 10,000 RPM for higher-speed machining. Equipped with an automatic tool changer (ATC) that holds up to 60 tools, expandable to 320 tools optionally, it allows efficient tool management with a chip-to-chip change time of 4.4 seconds. The machine includes a standard pallet changer with two pallets for uninterrupted operations. The rapid traverse and max feed rate for all axes reach 2,358 inches per minute, supporting high productivity and dynamic machining cycles. The HEC 500 Athletic offers optional support for indexing or rotary tables to enhance flexibility for complex part geometries. Its robust design ensures high rigidity and thermal stability, suitable for intensive milling of materials such as steel, aluminum, and cast iron. This machining center combines precision, efficiency, and adaptability, making it ideal for advanced manufacturing environments that require reliable horizontal machining with moderate to heavy workpiece capacities.
