Technical Description

The Heller Machine Tools FT 8000 is a high-performance horizontal 5-axis machining center designed for demanding production environments. Featuring a robust cross-bed machine bed and traversing column in gantry design, it delivers maximum rigidity and stability, even under high clamping loads. The table measures 43.300" x 43.300" and supports workpieces up to 4,400 lbs, with a standard rotary table for versatile workpiece positioning. The horizontal spindle utilizes an HSK-A100 taper, capable of speeds up to 8,000 rpm (optionally 12,500 rpm), and delivers 80 hp (optionally 106 hp) for powerful cutting performance. The machine is equipped with a fast automatic tool changer (ATC) supporting up to 54 tools (expandable to 400), achieving a tool change chip-to-chip time of just 6.3 seconds. Linear axis travels are X: 49.200", Y: 47.240", Z: 55.110", with rapid traverse rates of 1,965 ipm on all three axes. The 5-axis configuration includes a swivel head (A-axis: 195°) and a rotary table (B-axis: 360°), enabling complex 5-sided and simultaneous 5-axis machining. The machine’s cast iron structural components are topology-optimized for superior damping and stability, while the direct drive rotary table ensures high-speed turning and milling dynamics. Hydraulic clamping and integrated media interfaces further enhance workpiece security and flexibility. Designed for automation and high-volume production, the FT 8000 combines precision, speed, and reliability for a wide range of industrial applications.
