Technical Description
The Hyundai WIA HS5000/50 is a high-performance horizontal machining center designed for precision and versatility in metalworking. It features a 19.7" x 19.7" (500 x 500 mm) standard support index table capable of handling workpieces up to 1,102 lbs (500 kg), with an optional rotary table available. The machine utilizes a horizontal spindle with a Big Plus taper, offered in #40 (standard) or #50 (optional), delivering spindle speeds up to 15,000 RPM (12,000 RPM optional). The spindle motor provides 33.5 HP for 30-minute rating standard, with an optional 40.2 HP motor to support demanding cutting operations.
Equipped with an automatic tool changer (ATC), it supports 80 tools as standard, expandable to 120 tools, with tool change times of 1.5 seconds and chip-to-chip times of 4 seconds, enhancing productivity. The machine supports 3 axes as standard—X, Y, and Z—with optional 4-axis capability; the travels are 24.4" (X), 22.1" (Y), and 25.6" (Z), with optional extended travels up to 33.5", 27.6", and 29.5" respectively. The rapid traverse rate reaches 2,362 inches per minute in all axes. The 360-degree B-axis offers full rotary positioning.
This machining center uses a robust 3-point support bed structure for enhanced rigidity and ease of installation. Optional pallet changers and advanced CNC controls, typically Fanuc-based, can be integrated for automated production environments. The combination of high-speed spindle, extensive tooling capacity, and large stroke range makes the HS5000/50 ideal for complex, high-volume parts manufacturing in aerospace, automotive, and general machining sectors.
