A+Technical Description
The ICON 6-150 Horizontal Machining Center is a high-performance 4-axis CNC rotary transfer machine designed for ultra-precision, multi-sided machining of workpieces up to 6" (150 mm) cubic size and 77 lbs (35 kg) maximum weight. It features a 6.000" x 6.000" support table with a standard rotary indexing table delivering rapid 360° rotation and a 3.5-second index time. The machine includes four machining stations, each equipped with a high-speed HSK-E40 spindle capable of up to 42,000 RPM (optionally HSK-E32 spindles or 10,000 RPM spindles available), powered by a 27 HP motor (36 kW water-cooled motor at 40% duty cycle) with high torque for demanding cutting operations. The spindle design is cartridge-style, permanently grease lubricated, air purged, and liquid cooled for virtually maintenance-free operation. The 16-pocket automatic tool changer supports flexible tooling, while a standard pallet changer with four pallets optimizes production flow. Axis travels include X-axis at 7.48", Y-axis and Z-axis each at 9.8", with maximum feed rates and rapid traverses up to 1,572 ipm for all three linear axes. The B-axis rotates a full 360°, enabling 5-sided machining with 4-axis interpolation and 6-sided machining when used with workpiece inversion. The robust welded steel frame supports accurate zero-point clamping with sub-micron repeatability for pallets, ensuring consistent part positioning and quick changeover. The design supports applications demanding fast cycles, high precision, and complex machining such as aerospace, automotive, and hydraulic components.
