Technical Description

The INDEX C200 is a production turning machine for bar work built by INDEX-Werke in Esslingen, Germany. It has two identical, liquid-cooled motor spindles, a main spindle and a counter spindle, set 550 mm (21.6 in.) apart, and runs as a two- or three-turret machine. The standard version handles 65 mm (2.6 in.) bar at up to 6,000 rpm with 160 mm chucks, and a 90 mm (3.5 in.) bar version with 3,500 rpm spindles is also offered. Each turret holds 14 VDI 25 or 10 VDI 30 stations, all of which can be driven at up to 8,000 rpm, so a fully equipped machine carries up to 42 tools. The upper-left and lower tool carriers each have a Y axis with 100 mm of travel, and an optional third turret can be added at the upper right. The INDEX SingleSlide guide system combines two degrees of freedom in one plane for high dynamic response and vibration damping, with rapid traverses up to 50 m/min. The vertical bed gives clear chip fall, and an integrated unit discharges finished parts up to 3.5 kg. Controls are the Siemens S840D sl or FANUC 31i-B.
