Technical Description

The INDEX TRAUB ABC is a high-performance horizontal machining center designed for precision turning and milling operations. It features a main spindle with a maximum turning diameter of 2.560 inches, a turning length up to 5.000 inches, and a 6.000-inch chuck diameter, capable of handling bar diameters up to 1.650 inches. The main spindle delivers 7,000 RPM at 39 HP, providing robust cutting power with high torque and smooth acceleration through a hollow-shaft synchronous motor with patented headstock air cooling. The sub spindle supports turning diameters up to 1.650 inches with a 3.940-inch turning length, operating at 4,500 RPM and 5.7 HP, enhanced with an indexing increment of 7.5 degrees for precise part positioning. This machining center includes two turrets: the primary turret accommodates up to 8 turning and rotary tools each with 5.7 HP and up to 6,000 RPM on rotary tools, while the secondary turret holds 6 turning and rotary tools with a maximum rotary speed of 4,500 RPM. The machine supports simultaneous cutting with up to three tools and integrates standard secondary mill/drill functions both on-center and off-center, including 'C' axis capability, enhancing its versatility for complex milling and drilling tasks. The ABC model offers four-axis travel, with X and Y axes traveling 3.540 inches and rapid traverse rates of 1,056 ipm, while the Z axis has a 3.150-inch travel at the same rapid speed, ensuring swift and precise tool movements.
