Technical Description

The INDEX TRAUB MS52-6 is a 6-spindle CNC multi-spindle automatic lathe engineered for high-volume production of complex turned and milled components. This horizontal machining center accommodates bar stock up to 52mm (2.000") in diameter with a maximum turning length of 6.000" and features a 5.500" chuck diameter on its main spindle. The machine delivers 30kW of power and 5,000 RPM maximum spindle speed, capable of simultaneous machining across multiple axes with up to 22 standard CNC-controlled axes. The front slide tool carrier supports 10 turning and 10 rotary tools, while the rear slide accommodates 8 turning and 8 rotary tools, enabling up to 4 simultaneous cutting operations. Integration of advanced synchronous spindle technology with dynamic cross-slides and hydrostatic Z-axis support ensures precision and repeatability in finish operations. The machine is equipped with the iXpanel i4.0 control system featuring an 18.5" touchscreen and Siemens S840D sl CNC platform for intuitive programming and Industry 4.0 connectivity. Optional sub-spindle capability allows opposed counter-spindle operations for complete part machining without secondary operations. Automated workpiece handling via robot integration enables flexible pick-and-place loading at all six spindle positions, with capability for milling operations using live tooling with C-axis and Y-axis functionality. This configuration optimizes production efficiency for small-to-medium lot sizes of precision components, combining classical automation speed with modern CNC flexibility.
