Technical Description
The JOHNFORD HT-30-2SD is a high-precision, twin-spindle, twin-turret horizontal machining center designed for heavy-duty production and complex multitasking operations. It features two identical main spindles, each capable of 4,500 RPM with 20 HP motors, supporting a maximum turning diameter of 11.0" and a turning length up to 21.7". The spindles accommodate an 8" chuck diameter and maximum bar diameter of 2.0". The machine offers a maximum swing of 22.8" over the bed and provides rigid Meehanite iron construction with a 45-degree slant bed torque tube design to ensure high stability and thermal distortion resistance. Twin 12-station turrets allow for simultaneous use of two cutting tools, enhancing productivity with up to 24 tooling positions combined from both turrets for turning and rotary functions. The machine supports 5-axis simultaneous control, with optional 6-axis capability, enabling complex contouring tasks. Axis travels include 6.9" in the X axis and 18.1" in the Z axis, each with rapid traverse rates of up to 590 inches per minute, enabling fast and precise movements. The turrets are programmable with C and Y axis options and are compatible with live tooling for off-center milling. The rigid spindle design incorporates double row roller bearings and angular contact ball bearings to maintain concentricity and machining accuracy. This machining center is ideal for high-volume production with robust components for reliability and precision.
