Technical Description

The Kira KN-40HB is a horizontal machining center featuring a fixed, non-moving table measuring 27.6" x 15.7" standard, with an optional extension to 35.4" x 15.7", supporting workpieces up to 1,100 lbs. Its three-axis system (X: 19.7", Y: 15.7", Z: 15.7") operates with rapid traverse rates of 1,889 IPM and maximum feed rates of 394 IPM, all movements occurring in the column to keep the workpiece stationary. The horizontal spindle uses a #40 taper, delivering 10 HP (30-minute rating) with a top speed of 8,000 RPM, optionally up to 12,000 RPM. The machine is equipped with a 20-tool automatic tool changer (ATC), expandable to 40 tools, featuring a tool change time of 1.5 seconds and chip-to-chip time of 3 seconds. It is designed for high productivity with optional dual pallets and automated gantry loading capability, making it ideal for machining long shafts, beams, cylinders, axles, and tubes with heavy or complex fixtures. The compact footprint and flexible clamping design allow for side-by-side inline transfer systems and integration with overhead gantry or robot part handling. This model’s fixed table design allows the workpiece to extend outside the enclosure, facilitating complex machining and heavy fixture mounting without moving the workpiece, which reduces setup complexity and enables multi-machine progressive processing lines.
