Technical Description

The KOBE LS 20/40 Vertical Boring Mill is a heavy-duty machine designed for high-capacity turning operations. It features a substantial 78.70-inch table diameter and can accommodate a maximum swing of 157.50 inches. The machine provides a maximum height under the tool of 63 inches, with a vertical travel of the rail at 41.3 inches and a vertical travel of the ram head at 36 inches. Power is delivered through an infinitely variable speed system, allowing table speeds from 1 to 120 RPM. Precision feeding is supported with feeds ranging from 0.001 to 40 inches per minute and a rapid traverse of up to 250 inches per minute. The mill is built to handle significant weight, boasting a table load capacity of 46,000 lbs. Control is managed by a CNC system, specifically Fanuc 16Ti CNC Controls, which were upgraded in 2012. For tooling efficiency, the ram head is equipped with a 12-station automatic toolchanger. The unit's large dimensions measure 264 inches wide by 205 inches deep by 240 inches high, contributing to its considerable operating weight of 65,000 lbs.
