The Makino U3 H.E.A.T. Wire EDM machine is engineered for high-speed, high-accuracy wire electrical discharge machining with advanced features tailored for demanding applications. It offers X, Y, and Z axis travels of 14.6", 10.8", and 8.7" respectively, with U and V axes providing ±2" travel for taper cutting capabilities up to 15 degrees. The machine supports wire sizes from 0.004" to 0.012" diameter and can accommodate workpieces up to 30.3" x 23.2" x 8.7" tall, with a maximum workpiece weight of 1,323 lbs. Its 24.8" x 17.7" three-sided stationary table design ensures enhanced part accuracy and stability, while the integrated dielectic tank measures approximately 31.1" x 24.05" x 10" tall. Utilizing Makino's High Energy Applied Technology (H.E.A.T.) along with the HyperCut technology, the U3 H.E.A.T. delivers a surface finish up to 3 µm Rz with reduced cycle times and wire consumption. Dual independent high-capacity flushing pumps and an advanced four-filter filtration system optimize machining even under poor flushing conditions, ensuring superior accuracy and part straightness. The machine is controlled via Makino’s PC-based Hyper i control system, featuring an intuitive touchscreen interface with easy Program/Setup/Run operation and comprehensive machining condition libraries for over 2,200 material and wire settings. The factory-integrated dielectric chiller, water deionization, and filtration systems maintain thermal stability and enhance overall machine performance.
