Technical Description

The Makino V33i-5XB Graphite is a high-precision 5-axis vertical machining center designed for complex die and mold applications. It features a 7.87" diameter tilt-trunnion table supporting workpieces up to 66 lbs, with travel capacities of 25.6" (X), 12.7" (Y), and 13.7" (Z). The table provides simultaneous five-axis motion with 130° tilt and full 360° rotation, enabling one-setup access to intricate, multi-sided parts with undercut and complex geometries, optimizing tool length and improving tool life and surface finish. The vertical spindle, with a standard CAT #40 taper and optional HSK-A63 taper, operates at up to 20,000 RPM (upgradeable to 30,000 RPM), powered by a 20 HP motor (optional 23 HP), incorporating Makino's patented core-cooling and under-race lubrication system to minimize thermal distortion and vibration during high-speed operation. The machine includes an automatic tool changer (ATC) with 25-tool capacity, expandable up to 60 tools, and a rapid tool change time of 4.8 seconds. It achieves rapid traverse rates and cutting feedrates of up to 787 inches per minute on the X, Y, and Z axes. The advanced Makino Professional 6 CNC control system with graphical user interface and proprietary SGI.5 servo technology delivers stable, precise, and efficient machining through user-friendly operation and advanced data management. The machine is fully enclosed with a sealed splash guard optimized for graphite dust containment, supporting dry machining of steels and castings while maintaining thermal stability via core-cooled ballscrews, saddle, and Nano slideways.
