Technical Description

The MICROLUTION 5100-S is a high-precision 5-axis vertical machining center with compact work envelope dimensions of 3.94 inches (100 mm) in X, Y, and Z axes travel. It features a 24-tool automatic tool changer (ATC) and CNC control for advanced programmable machining. The machine is equipped with a high-speed electrically driven Alfred-Jager spindle capable of reaching speeds up to 50,000 RPM, supporting ultra-fine micro-milling operations with tools as small as 0.0004 inches in diameter. Linear motor-driven axes enable exceptional acceleration up to 2G, providing rapid and precise tool movement, assisted by Heidenhain glass scale encoders for high-resolution positional feedback. The base is constructed from precision-ground granite, ensuring thermal stability and vibration dampening critical for micron-level accuracy with ±1 µm positioning capabilities. A Blum laser automatic tool sensor measures tool length and diameter with extreme precision. The machine incorporates an active thermal control system with chilled water cooling, maintaining dimensional stability during long production runs. The CNC control interface runs on Delta-Tau open source software, interprets standard Fanuc G-code, and includes a PC-based touchscreen for ease of operation.
