Technical Description

The Muratec MW100 is a twin-spindle CNC chucker built by Murata Machinery for high-volume turning of chucked parts such as automotive components. Two identical spindles sit side by side, each served by its own 8-station turret, giving 16 tools in total. The layout lets the machine run the same operation on both spindles or split first and second operations between them, and aligning the spindles side by side simplifies set-up. Chuck size is 6 inches (165 mm) and the spindle nose is JIS A2-5. Maximum spindle speed is 3,000, 4,000 or 6,000 rpm depending on the spindle specification ordered. Each spindle is driven by a 5.5 kW (30 min) AC motor. The machine is supplied with an integrated gantry loader, either a single loader or, on the twin-loader version, two loaders. Gross weight with loader is 3,500 kg with the single loader and 3,570 kg with the twin loader. Chips fall directly away from the cutting zone for efficient disposal, and a full range of options supports unattended production. The MW100 sits in the MW series between the plate-tooled MW50/MW80 and the larger MW120, MW180, MW200 and MW400 chuckers.
