The Nakamura-Tome NTM-3 is a twin-spindle, multi-tasking turning center designed for high-efficiency, simultaneous machining operations. This CNC machine features dual main spindles, each rated at 20 HP with spindle speeds up to 5,000 RPM (optional 4,500 RPM), enabling synchronized cutting on both ends of the workpiece. The machine accommodates a maximum turning diameter of 7.48 inches and turning length of 25.19 inches, with a 2.0-inch bar capacity on the main spindle. The three-turret configuration includes two upper turrets with Y-axis capability and one lower turret, collectively providing 72 tool stations with up to 24 turning tools and 12 rotary tools per turret. Three simultaneous cutting tools can operate concurrently, maximizing productivity. The rotary/driven tool spindle operates at 6,000 RPM with 5 HP, enabling milling, drilling, and tapping without additional setups. The machine provides 9 standard axes of motion, expandable to 11 optional axes with C-axis and optional Y-axis functionality for off-center secondary mill/drill operations. Rapid traverse rates reach 630 ipm across all axes, with X-axis travel of 6.59 inches and Z-axis travel of 9.84 inches.
