Technical Description
The Nakamura-Tome WT-250II is a two-spindle, two-turret multitasking turning center with a Y-axis on the upper turret, built for complete one-hit machining of bar and chucked parts. The MMY designation indicates milling on both turrets and a Y-axis. The left spindle takes an 8 in chuck with 65 mm (2.56 in) bar capacity and runs to 4,500 rpm on an 18.5/15 kW (24.8/20.1 hp) motor, with optional 35/26/22 kW wide-range and 15/11 kW motors. The right spindle takes a 6 in chuck, has 51 mm bar capacity (65 mm optional) and runs to 5,000 rpm on an 11/7.5 kW motor. Maximum turning diameter is 250 mm (9.84 in) and maximum turning length is 555 mm (21.85 in), with 885 mm maximum distance between spindles. Upper and lower dodecagonal drum turrets each have 24 indexing positions and 12 driven-tool stations, for up to 48 tools; driven tools run to 6,000 rpm on 5.5/3.7 kW motors. The upper turret Y-axis stroke is plus or minus 41 mm. All axes use hand-scraped box slideways on a 45-degree slant bed. Floor space is 4,059 x 2,314 mm with a height of 2,225 mm, and machine weight is 8,700 kg (19,180 lb).
