Technical Description
The Nakamura-Tome WT-250II is a two-spindle, two-turret multitasking turning center for complete machining of bar and chucked parts in variable lot sizes. Opposed left and right spindles work with upper and lower turrets, so both spindles can be cut simultaneously or four-axis machining can be done on either spindle, balancing processes and reducing cycle time. Maximum turning diameter is 250 mm (9.84 in) and maximum turning length is 555 mm (21.85 in), with 265 to 885 mm between spindle noses. The left spindle takes an 8 inch chuck with 65 mm bar capacity and runs at 4,500 rpm on an 18.5/15 kW motor, with higher-power and wide-range motors optional. The right spindle takes a 6 inch chuck with 51 mm bar capacity (65 mm optional) and runs at 5,000 rpm on an 11/7.5 kW motor. With the spindles synchronized, up to 29.5 kW of cutting power is available for shaft work. Each dodecagonal turret has 24 index positions and 12 individually driven tool stations with 5.5/3.7 kW motors at 6,000 rpm, giving up to 48 tools. The upper turret has a Y-axis stroke of 41 mm either side of center. Floor space is 4,059 x 2,314 mm, height is 2,225 mm, and machine weight is 8,700 kg.
