Technical Description
The Okuma GENOS L3000-e is a single-saddle, 2-axis CNC lathe from Okuma's GENOS series, which launched in 2010. It uses an integral spindle motor with a JIS A2-8 nose, a 3.15 in (80 mm) spindle bore and a 4.72 in (120 mm) front bearing. The spindle runs from 38 to 3,800 rpm in two automatic ranges switched by motor coil. It is rated 22 kW (29.5 hp) for 20 minutes and 15 kW continuous, with 412 Nm (304 ft-lb) of torque. Swing over the bed is 20.47 in (520 mm) and swing over the saddle is 15.75 in (400 mm). In the turning (L) version, maximum turning diameter is 13.39 in (340 mm) and X-axis travel is 9.25 in (235 mm). The machine is built in DBC 500 and DBC 1100 bed lengths, with maximum work lengths of 19.69 in (500 mm) and 43.31 in (1,100 mm). The X and Z axes run on box guideways, with rapids of 25 m/min in X and 30 m/min in Z. Tooling is carried on a 12-station V12 turret, and an NC tailstock is optional. Okuma's Thermo Active Stabilizer (TAS-C) controls thermal deformation. The OSP-P300LA-e control has a 15 in multi-touch display and runs the OSP suite apps. M (live tooling) and MY (Y axis) versions are also offered.
