Technical Description

The Okuma LB3000 EX-II is a slant-bed CNC turning center built on Okuma's Thermo-Friendly Concept for reduced thermal growth, with a rigid box-way slant-bed structure and a high-power, high-torque PREX spindle motor. Maximum swing over bed is 22.83 in, maximum cutting diameter is 13.39 in, and maximum cutting length is 31.5 in. The main spindle is driven by a 40 hp motor to a maximum speed of 4,200 rpm, with a 10 in chuck, 3.18 in bar capacity and 3.59 in spindle bore. Axis travels are 10.24 in on X, 39.76 in on Z, and (on Y-axis-equipped MY/MYW models) 4.53 in on Y (+2.76 in / -1.77 in). The turret carries 12 stations with a 6,000 rpm live-milling capability for drilling, tapping and milling operations performed on the turned part. The machine is equipped with Okuma's open-architecture OSP-P CNC control. The LB3000 EX-II is offered in multiple configurations, including with Y-axis milling (M/MY suffix) and with a sub-spindle (W suffix); the MY configuration documented here adds Y-axis milling capability to the base turning center without a sub-spindle.
