Technical Description

The OMV SHARK is a high-speed, fixed-bed moving-column vertical machining center engineered for precision and rigidity. This 3-axis CNC machine features substantial travel dimensions of approximately 5,000 mm (X-axis), 1,200 mm (Y-axis), and 1,600 mm (Z-axis), accommodating large workpieces across diverse applications. The machine utilizes a moving-column architecture with a fixed table structure and incorporates a box-in-box construction designed through finite element analysis (FEM) to maximize structural rigidity and thermal stability. The monolithic column and saddle are generously dimensioned and ribbed with symmetrical structures to ensure consistent performance regardless of temperature fluctuations and machining forces. The SHARK is equipped with precision ballscrews on the vertical and cross axes, while the longitudinal movement employs a double water-cooled motor-reducer group for enhanced performance. Spindle specifications range from 22 to 45 kW with rotational speeds between 4,000 and 15,000 rpm, enabling feed rates up to 40,000 mm/min. The machine supports multiple spindle taper options including HSK-63A, HSK-100A, ISO40, and ISO50. Designed with finite element optimization, the SHARK delivers low friction rates and high acceleration values for superior dynamic performance in both finishing and roughing operations. The completely enclosed design features an integrated operator cabinet positioned within the column, providing excellent visibility while protecting against chips and coolant splash.
