Technical Description

The SCHMID MASCHINEN SE 345 is a high-performance vertical machining center designed for efficient and precise machining of large workpieces, particularly in the production of large rolling bearings. Featuring a robust double-place configuration, the machine is equipped with two independent vertical work spindles mounted on a rigid drilling portal, allowing simultaneous or sequential operations for increased productivity. The traversing ranges are 129.92 inches (3,300 mm) on the X-axis, 124.02 inches (3,150 mm) on the Y-axis, and 31.5 inches (800 mm) on the Z-axis, enabling the machining of large-diameter components with a maximum workpiece diameter of up to 2,400 mm. The machine is powered by a 63 kW (84.54 hp) spindle drive, delivering a maximum speed of 4,000 RPM for high-efficiency drilling, tapping, and milling tasks. Each vertical spindle is supported by a dedicated plate-type automatic tool changer (ATC) with 36 stations, compatible with the HSK 100 tool taper for secure and accurate tool holding. The portal’s Y and Z axis drives are highly dynamic, ensuring robust and precise machining performance. The SE 345 also features a flexible slide system for independent workpiece loading and unloading, minimizing downtime. The machine is controlled by a SINUMERIK 840D CNC system, providing advanced programming and operational capabilities. Optional angular drill heads allow for both exterior and interior machining of complex parts such as rolling bearing rings.
