Technical Description

The SCHMID SE 460 is a horizontal machining center engineered for high-efficiency production with minimal spatial footprint. Featuring a 400mm X-axis, 400mm Y-axis, and 750mm Z-axis work envelope, this machine delivers rapid traverse speeds of 30,000mm/min across all axes. The SE 460 incorporates a sophisticated multi-station design with six rotary indexing tables (300mm diameter) arranged on both sides of a swivel table, enabling simultaneous setup and machining operations for increased productivity. Three independent machining units, each equipped with its own 40-tool magazine accessed via slewing gear delivery system, provide concurrent processing capabilities. Operating at speeds up to 5,500 RPM with 36kW drive power (S6-40% ED) and 384Nm torque, the machine utilizes SK50 tool taper for rapid changeovers. The vertical Y-axis slides accommodate the rotary table assemblies, allowing three loaded tables on the setup side while three machining-ready stations remain in the work area. This configuration maximizes uptime by permitting operator setup procedures during active machining cycles. The system measures 6,500mm in length, 4,000mm in width, and 3,200mm in height, with a total weight of 28,000kg. A service staircase provides convenient access to tool magazine operations. The SE 460's space-efficient design and multi-station architecture make it ideal for high-volume production environments requiring rapid part turnover and minimal machine footprint.
