The Shibaura Machine Co. BMC-500 is a high-performance horizontal machining center designed for stable, powerful cutting and precision machining. It features a horizontal spindle with a BT50 taper operating up to 5,000 RPM, driven by a 15 HP motor (30-minute rating). The machine supports a standard fixed work table measuring 19.7" x 19.7" with a maximum workpiece weight capacity of 1,760 lbs. An optional rotary table is available to enhance versatility. The tool management system includes an automatic tool changer (ATC) with a 60-tool capacity, expandable to 120 tools, enabling efficient machining with tool change times of 3 seconds and chip-to-chip times of 8 seconds. The pallet changer system is standard with two pallets, with options for up to 40 pallets, facilitating continuous operation and reduced downtime. The machining center provides three linear axes—X (31.4"), Y (24.8"), and Z (27.9")—all with rapid traverse rates up to 945 inches per minute. Additionally, a 360° B-axis rotary capability is included, supporting complex machining tasks.
