The machine is equipped with a 25 HP spindle motor delivering up to 10,000 RPM through a CAT#40 Big Plus spindle taper, which is a dual contact system providing enhanced tool rigidity and machining accuracy by ensuring simultaneous taper and flange contact. This system reduces tool deflection, improves surface finish, extends tool life, and minimizes Z-axis movement at high speeds. The SM-850 supports a 24-tool capacity arm-type tool changer, enabling efficient machining cycles and flexibility in tooling. It is also prepped for Renishaw probing systems for enhanced setup accuracy and in-process measurement. The machine offers rigid tapping capabilities and includes a manual guide eye for precise manual reference. For cooling, it utilizes thru-spindle coolant delivery, optimizing tool life and chip evacuation. Additionally, the SM-850 is 4th axis rotary table/trunnion ready, enabling complex angle machining. Its control options and structural features make it suitable for precision milling, heavy cutting, and high-speed applications, making it ideal for demanding manufacturing environments.
