Technical Description

The Sodick ALC400G Wire EDM Machine is a high-precision, rigid linear motor-driven wire-cut EDM designed for advanced manufacturing applications. Equipped with Sodick’s proprietary SPW (Smart Pulse Wire) CNC control, the machine delivers exceptional accuracy, speed, and surface finish. The ALC400G features linear motors on the X, Y, U, and V axes, ensuring smooth, high-speed movement and outstanding positioning accuracy, further enhanced by absolute linear scales with 10-nanometer resolution. The innovative iGroove Plus wire rotation mechanism, unique to Sodick, improves surface quality and geometric accuracy while minimizing wire consumption, especially during skim cuts. The machine’s ceramic work zone enhances thermal stability and geometric accuracy, outperforming conventional metal-plastic work zones. With an X/Y/Z axis travel of 400 x 300 x 250 mm and U/V axis travel of 150 x 150 mm, the ALC400G is capable of handling complex, multi-axis machining tasks. The work tank dimensions are 850 x 610 mm, and the distance from the floor to the table top is 995 mm. The machine supports wire electrode diameters from 0.1 to 0.3 mm, with an optional 0.05 mm wire for ultra-fine applications. Advanced features include Digital PIKA W Plus for super surface finish (Ra=0.05 µ), Sodick Fine Corner Control, energy-saving circuits, quadruple filtration, and automatic water level control. The ALC400G also incorporates a fixed jet automatic wire threader, remote controller, and a 3-sided rise-and-fall work tank for improved ease of operation. The machine dimensions are 83.27” x 98.43” x 87.80” (2115 x 2500 x 2230 mm), and it weighs 7,496 lbs (3,400 kg).
