Technical Description

The Sodick VL400Q Wire EDM is a high-precision, linear motor-driven machine designed for advanced wire-cutting applications. Featuring a robust work tank measuring 33.6" x 27.1" (860 x 690 mm), it accommodates workpieces up to 1,102 lbs (500 kg). The machine delivers X-axis travel of 15.75" (400 mm), Y-axis travel of 11.81" (300 mm), Z-axis travel of 8.66" (220 mm), and U/V-axis travel of 3.15" (80 mm), enabling versatile multi-axis machining. Powered by Sodick’s LN2W control system, the VL400Q integrates linear drives on all X, Y, U, and V axes, ensuring high-speed, high-accuracy cutting with no backlash. Glass scale feedback via Heidenhain 1-micron absolute scales enhances positioning precision. The machine is equipped with an automatic wire threader for efficient unattended operation, an L-cut wire chopper for improved wire management, and a large spool adapter for extended runs. Dual filtration ensures clean dielectric fluid, while a remote pendant, USB, and LAN ports provide convenient operation and connectivity. Submerged machining capability, advanced wire tension control, and a max wire feed speed of 420 mm/sec further optimize performance. The VL400Q is engineered for reliability, repeatability, and ease of use in demanding production environments.
