The STAR SB-16C/D is a high-precision horizontal CNC Swiss-type automatic lathe designed for complex, high-volume machining of small-diameter components. It features a main spindle with a maximum turning diameter of 0.630" (16 mm) and a maximum turning length of 8.000" (203 mm), supporting a bar capacity up to 0.630". The sub-spindle matches the main spindle in diameter capability, with a maximum turning length of 3.160" (80 mm), enabling efficient secondary operations. The machine is equipped with one main spindle and one sub-spindle, both offering high-speed performance—main spindle up to 10,000 RPM (4.9 HP) and sub-spindle up to 8,000 RPM (1.33 HP)—with precise indexing increments of 1.000° for accurate part positioning. Tooling flexibility is provided by two front slides, each supporting up to four turning tools, and two rotary tools (0.5 HP, 7,500 RPM) for milling and drilling. The system allows up to two simultaneous cutting tools, with standard secondary mill/drill functions on- and off-center, and optional C-axis capability. The machine supports up to five axes, with standard Y-axis functionality for enhanced contouring. The robust design, large swarf tray, and high-capacity coolant tank ensure reliable, continuous operation for demanding production environments.
