Technical Description

The Takamaz (Takamatsu Machinery) XD-8 PLUS is a twin-spindle, single-slide precision CNC lathe ("CNC 2-Spindle 1-Slide") built for small-part gang-type turning, per the manufacturer's XD-series brochure. The spindle bearing bore is 65 mm (2.56 in), with a maximum spindle speed of 4,500 rpm standard (8,000 rpm with the optional high-speed spindle). The standard workholding is a TAKAMAZ push-sleeve collet chuck; a 5 in power chuck can be fitted as an alternative. Each spindle motor is rated 3.7/2.2 kW (about 5.0/3.0 hp, intermittent/continuous), with a 5.5/3.7 kW option for the high-speed spindle. Tooling uses a gang-type tool post with integral toolholders (200 mm X-stroke, 380 mm +/-190 Z-stroke) rather than an indexed turret. The control is TAKAMAZ & FANUC 0i-TD. Overall footprint is approximately 1,580 x 1,550 x 1,935 mm (62.2 x 61.0 x 76.2 in).
