Technical Description

The Takisawa TS-4000YS is an opposed twin-spindle CNC turning center with a Y-axis and a single turret, built by Takisawa in Japan for complete front and back machining of chucked and bar work in one setup. The left (main) spindle has an A2-8 nose, a 10-inch chuck and 82 mm bar capacity, and runs to 4,200 rpm with a 22 kW (30 min) / 15 kW continuous motor. The right (sub) spindle carries a 6-inch chuck and runs to 6,000 rpm with an 11/7.5 kW motor. The standard 12-station all-holder turret carries rotary tools at up to 6,000 rpm on a 7.5/3.7 kW motor; 10-, 15- and 20-station turrets are options. With the standard turret, maximum turning diameter is 370 mm (14.57 in) and maximum turning length is 750 mm (29.53 in). Rapid traverse is 30 m/min on X and Z and 10 m/min on Y. Machines in this period carry the FANUC 32i-B control. Required floor space is 3,000 x 2,140 mm without oil pan and chip conveyor, machine height is 2,300 mm, and weight is 6,200 kg. Takisawa positions it for variable-mix, variable-lot work such as aircraft, medical and construction machinery parts.
