Technical Description

The TRAUB TNA300 is a CNC universal turning machine built by INDEX-Werke under the TRAUB brand for simple to medium-complexity chuck, shaft and bar work. It has a torsion-resistant slant bed at 40 degrees carrying a thermo-symmetric headstock, with separate covered guideways for the tailstock and steadies. The main spindle runs in preloaded angular contact bearings with an A6 short-taper nose and is offered in two sizes; the larger version has 65 mm (2.56 in) bar capacity and takes 200 to 250 mm (8 to 10 in) chucks. The main drive is rated 11 kW (15 hp) with 280 Nm of torque and a top speed of 4,000 rpm, and the C-axis indexes at up to 100 rpm. Maximum turning diameter is 275 mm (10.8 in), maximum turning length is 450 mm (17.7 in), and swing is 520 mm over the bed and 395 mm over the cross slide. A 12-station disc turret takes VDI 30 tool holders, all stations driven at up to 4,000 rpm with 4 kW, and a Y-axis of plus or minus 35 mm is available. Rapid traverse is 15 m/min on X and 18 m/min on Z. A hydraulic tailstock with 70 mm quill is standard. The control is the TRAUB TX8i-s. The machine weighs about 3,500 kg (7,700 lb) with tailstock and steady.
