Technical Description
The Volvo L330D is a high-performance wheel loader designed for heavy-duty earthmoving and construction tasks. Powered by a turbocharged and intercooled Volvo TD 164 KALE engine, it delivers 498 hp (371 kW) net power at 1800 rpm with a torque of 1748 lb-ft (2340 Nm) at 1000 rpm, ensuring excellent low-rpm response and compliance with emission regulations. The loader features a 9.1 cubic yard (7 m³) heaped bucket with a breakout force of 105,548 lbs (47,876 kg) and a bucket width of 13.1 ft (4 m), optimized for strong digging and material handling performance. The hydraulic system provides a pump flow capacity of 89.9 gal/min (337 l/min), enabling quick cycle times with dump, raise, and lower times of 1.9, 8.3, and 4.4 seconds respectively, at a relief valve setting of 3771 psi.
The machine’s robust dimensions include a ground clearance of 1.8 ft (0.55 m), a height to the top of the cab of 13.8 ft (4.2 m), hinge pin height of 16.7 ft (5.1 m), and a total length of 33.6 ft (10.2 m) with the bucket on the ground. It has a wheelbase of 13.4 ft (4.1 m), width over tires of 12 ft (3.7 m), and turning radius of 29.4 ft (9 m). Weighing approximately 111,400 lbs (50,530 kg), the L330D operates on 35/65R33 XLD D1*L-4 tires with rear axle oscillation up to 24°. The transmission is an automatic power shift C8421H with four forward and four reverse gears, allowing speeds up to 21.3 mph (34 kph) in both directions.
Additional specifications include an 80 A alternator, 24 V electrical system, extensive fluid capacities for engine oil, cooling, hydraulic system, and axles, promoting reliable operation and easy maintenance. The L330D integrates wet disc brakes with fully sealed, oil-cooled discs and limited-slip differentials front and rear to ensure safety and traction on tough job sites. Its design supports operator comfort and high productivity with options for long boom and boom suspension systems available.
