Technical Description

The YCM NXV1680A Vertical Machining Center is a high-rigidity CNC machine designed for heavy-duty precision machining, particularly suitable for automotive and aerospace applications. It features a large table/pallet size of 68.1" x 29.9" supporting a maximum load of approximately 3,300 lbs, with extended travels of 64.2" (X), 30" (Y), and 27.6" (Z) axes. The machine is equipped with a powerful 40 HP spindle motor driving a CAT #40 taper spindle, capable of speeds up to 12,000 RPM, supporting high-speed operations and heavy cutting loads. The rapid traverse rate reaches up to 1181 IPM on the X and Y axes, and 945 IPM on Z, with a maximum cutting feed rate of 787 IPM, enabling efficient material removal rates. A 30-tool side-mount automatic tool changer enhances productivity, featuring fast tool change times and options for larger tool magazines. The spindle incorporates YCM’s in-house IDD spindle technology, including ceramic bearings for thermal stability, spindle cooling systems, and grease or oil-air lubrication to optimize spindle life and accuracy. A 4th axis rotary table/trunnion is integrated for complex contouring and indexing operations. Chip management is ensured with a rear-exit chip conveyor combined with penta chip augers facilitating continuous chip removal, while coolant is delivered at 500 PSI for superior cooling and chip flushing. The machine structure includes high-load linear guideways, FEM-optimized ribbed construction, and direct-drive servo motors with absolute encoders, delivering excellent rigidity, positional accuracy, and stability under heavy machining conditions. The NXV1680A is controlled by a Fanuc MXP-200FA CNC system and supports advanced probing and tool measurement systems for precision workflows.
