Technical Description

The ACRA 1860SC Manual Lathe is a heavy-duty precision engine lathe designed for demanding turning applications. It features an 18.14-inch swing over the bed and a 12.13-inch swing over the cross slide, accommodating large workpieces with ease. The distance between centers is 60 inches, providing ample capacity for extended workpieces. The lathe is powered by a robust 7.5 HP main motor, delivering consistent performance for both light and heavy cutting operations. The spindle offers a bore diameter of 3.12 inches, allowing for the passage of sizable bar stock. Spindle speeds range up to 1,500 RPM, with 12 speed steps for optimal control across various materials and machining requirements. The machine is built on an induction-hardened and precision-ground Meehanite bed, ensuring long-term accuracy and durability. Sliding surfaces are enhanced with Turcite "B" for smooth operation and reduced wear. The lathe includes a fully enclosed universal inch/metric gearbox, eliminating the need for change gears and enabling quick switching between measurement systems. All dials provide inch and metric readings for convenience. Standard equipment includes a coolant system with a full-length splash guard, a four-way rapid indexing tool block, front sliding chip and coolant tray, two dead centers with reducing sleeves, setup tools, and an emergency panic stop button. The precision hand-scraped gap and adjustable apron clutch further enhance operational reliability and safety. This lathe is ideal for shops requiring high precision, versatility, and rugged construction in manual turning applications.
