Technical Description

The 2012 Bridgeport XR1000 is a 3-axis vertical machining center produced by Hardinge Inc. under the Bridgeport brand, representing a late-production example of the XR series with seven years of continuous production refinement behind it. The machine features a 47.2-inch by 23.6-inch worktable with a 30-station side-mount automatic tool changer and a BT 40 or CAT 40 Big-Plus spindle taper. The spindle motor delivers 25 HP (18.5 kW) at a maximum speed of 12,000 RPM as standard; 9,000 and 15,000 RPM configurations were also available. X-axis travel is 40 inches, Y-axis travel is 24 inches, and Z-axis travel is 24 inches. The machine is equipped with a Fanuc 18i-MB CNC control providing high-speed contouring, rigid tapping, and Look Ahead block processing, with an optional Heidenhain iTNC 530. Rapid traverse rates reach 1,692 IPM on X/Y and 1,417 IPM on Z. Built on a grey cast-iron base with 45mm linear roller guideways, the XR1000 maintains high stiffness and repeatability at production traverse speeds. Standard equipment includes flood coolant, through-spindle coolant, automatic lubrication, and chip conveyor. Machine weight is approximately 15,400 lbs. As a 2012 machine, the XR1000 is well within the expected service life window and represents a strong value in the used machining center market, combining modern control capability, proven mechanical platform, and full Hardinge service support.
