Technical Description

The 2020 Brother Speedio R650X2 is a 3-axis high-speed tapping center equipped with a 2-pallet automatic workpiece changer, enabling continuous production through simultaneous machining and workpiece loading. Built on the same BT30 taper platform as the single-pallet R650X1, the R650X2 adds a second pallet station to eliminate downtime between setups in high-volume production runs. The standard milling spindle delivers a maximum speed of 10,000 RPM with a continuous (S1) power rating of 7.0 kW (approximately 9.4 HP); optional spindle configurations extend speed to 16,000 RPM, or a high-torque 10,000 RPM spindle package is available for heavier cutting requirements. Each pallet table measures 800 mm x 400 mm (31.5 x 15.7 inches), and the machine provides axis travels of 650 mm (25.6 inches) in X, 400 mm (15.7 inches) in Y, and 305 mm (12.0 inches) in Z. The Brother CNC-C00 control governs machine operation and is fully compatible with Fanuc G-code; optional rotary axes can be added for simultaneous multi-axis control. Rapid traverse rates of 50 m/min across all linear axes and chip-to-chip tool change times under 1.4 seconds maximize productivity per hour. The overall machine envelope measures 1,897 mm x 3,448 mm (74.7 x 135.7 inches) in floor space, with a height of 2,696 mm (106.1 inches), and the machine weighs approximately 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs). Standard equipment includes an automatic tool changer, coolant system, and chip conveyor provisions.
