Technical Description

The Chevalier FBL-540 MC is a big-bore, heavy-duty CNC turning center with a 45-degree slant bed and box ways, the longest-bed model in Chevalier's FBL-500 series; the MC suffix denotes the live-tooling version for milling and drilling in the same setup. The bed is a torque-tube structure of ribbed Meehanite cast iron designed to resist deflection and damp vibration during heavy cutting. Chevalier lists a Fanuc 0i-T control. The machine swings 39.4 in over the bed and 31.5 in over the cover, with a maximum cutting diameter of 37 in and a maximum cutting length of 157.5 in. The A2-15 spindle nose has a 7.5 in spindle hole and passes bar up to 6 in in diameter, with a top speed of 1,000 rpm; the series is offered with spindle motors up to 60 hp. X and Z travels are 19.3 in and 157.5 in. The 12-station turret takes 1-1/4 in square turning tools. The programmable tailstock travels 157.5 in and carries a 7.9 in diameter hydraulic quill with an MT6 taper. Floor space is 378 x 117.2 in, height is 99.6 in and net weight is 59,400 lb.
