Technical Description
The Chevalier FNL-220LSY is a multi-axis CNC turning and milling center with a main spindle, a sub-spindle, live tooling and off-center Y-axis milling. The base is a single Meehanite casting with a torque-tube design for damping and resistance to deformation during cutting. Chevalier lists a Fanuc 0i-T control. The machine swings 24.4 in over the bed and saddle, with a maximum cutting diameter of 10.6 in and a maximum cutting length of 20.1 in. The A2-6 main spindle has a 3.0 in bore, passes 2.5 in bar, takes a 6 in or 8 in chuck and runs to 4,500 rpm; it is supported by three sets of high-speed ball thrust bearings and one cylindrical roller bearing. The A2-5 sub-spindle takes a 6 in chuck, has a 2.2 in bore and 1.8 in bar capacity, and runs to 6,000 rpm on a 22 in B-axis. Both spindles have full C-axis control with 0.001-degree interpolation and hydraulic disk-brake clamping. Travels are 7.9 in in X, 22 in in Z and plus or minus 2.2 in in Y. A 16-station BMT45 powered turret changes tools in 0.16 seconds. Floor space is 161.8 x 76.9 in, height is 83.5 in and net weight is 13,000 lb.
