A+Technical Description
The Clausing Colchester 13GH is a precision manual engine lathe engineered for accurate machining operations on small to medium-sized workpieces. Featuring a 13.75-inch swing capacity and a robust 1.57-inch spindle bore, this machine accommodates a wide range of turning and facing tasks. The 7.75-inch swing over the cross slide enables versatile work positioning while maintaining operational clearance. Powered by a 2.94 HP motor, the lathe delivers consistent cutting performance with spindle speeds reaching 2,500 RPM, providing adequate velocity for precision work across various materials. The machine incorporates a geared headstock design that offers multiple speed ranges through mechanical gear selection, enabling operators to optimize cutting parameters for different applications and material types. The lathe features adjustable gib strips on both saddle and cross slide for maintaining precision during extended use, with anti-backlash adjustment on the cross slide nut to ensure repeatable accuracy. The totally enclosed, splash-bath lubricated cast iron apron houses a double halfnut assembly for maximum longevity and thread-cutting accuracy. A one-shot lubrication system services saddle and cross slide components, reducing maintenance requirements. Standard equipment includes two 3MT dead centers, inch threading dial, splash guard, and a coolant system. The machine accommodates inch pitches from 2-56 TPI and metric pitches from 0.2-14mm, along with 18 diametral pitches and 18 module pitches, making it suitable for diverse threading and gear-cutting applications. Emergency stop and lockable isolator switches provide operational safety features.
