Technical Description
The PUMA 240MB is a CNC turning center with live tooling from the Daewoo/Doosan PUMA 240 series, in the B (8-inch chuck) spindle version with the M (milling) option. The main spindle has an A2-6 nose, a 76 mm (3.0 in) through hole and 65 mm bar capacity, and runs to 4,500 rpm on an 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) 30-minute motor. Swing over bed is 550 mm (21.7 in); maximum turning diameter is 300 mm (11.8 in) and maximum turning length is 513 mm (20.2 in). Travels are 205 mm in X and 580 mm in Z, with rapid rates of 24 m/min (X) and 30 m/min (Z). The 12-station turret takes 25 mm square OD tools and 40 mm boring bars, indexes in 0.15 s, and drives rotary tools at up to 5,000 rpm; the C-axis indexes in 0.001-degree steps for milling, drilling and tapping on the part face and diameter. A tailstock with an MT4 quill (80 mm diameter, 80 mm travel) is fitted. The machine occupies 3,135 x 1,643 mm of floor space, stands 1,755 mm high and weighs about 4,700 kg. The PUMA 240 series was later replaced by the PUMA 2100 series.
