Technical Description
The PUMA 400LC is a heavy-duty two-axis CNC turning center from the Doosan PUMA 400 series, in the long-bed (L) version with the large C spindle. The 45-degree slant bed is a one-piece casting, and power reaches the spindle through a two-speed gearbox. The A1-15 spindle has a 181 mm (7.1 in) through hole and 165.5 mm bar capacity, carries a 530 mm (21 in) chuck and runs to 1,500 rpm on a 30 kW continuous / 37 kW (49.6 hp) 30-minute motor. Swing over the bed is 770 mm (30.3 in) and over the saddle 590 mm (23.2 in); maximum turning diameter is 560 mm (22.0 in) and maximum turning length is 2,074 mm (81.7 in). X-axis travel is 357 mm and Z-axis travel 2,155 mm, with rapid rates of 16 m/min in X and 18 m/min in Z on the long bed. The C-version turret has 10 stations and takes 60 mm boring bars, with a 0.25-second index. The tailstock has a 120 mm quill with an MT6 bore. Control is the Fanuc 32i-A or Doosan Fanuc i. The long-bed machine occupies 5,702 x 2,440 mm (224.5 x 96.1 in) of floor space, stands 2,306 mm (90.8 in) high and weighs about 11,500 kg (25,353 lb). Electrical supply is rated at 53.1 kVA.
