Technical Description

The PUMA MX2500 is a multi-axis turn-mill centre from the Daewoo/Doosan PUMA MX2000/2500 series, in the basic configuration with a single turning spindle, a B-axis milling spindle and a programmable tailstock. The larger MX2500 spindle has an A2-8 nose, a 90 mm (3.54 in) bore, a 10-inch chuck and a 76 mm bar capacity, and runs to 3,500 rpm on a 22/26 kW built-in motor with 0.001-degree Cs indexing. Maximum turning diameter is 540 mm (21.3 in) and maximum turning length is 1,020 mm (40.2 in) on the standard bed. The milling spindle takes Capto C6 tooling (KM63 or HSK-A63 optional), runs to 10,000 rpm on a 15 kW motor, and swivels 240 degrees on the B axis in 0.001-degree steps. An automatic tool changer holds 24 tools as standard, with 40- and 80-tool magazines optional; tool-to-tool change time is 1.5 s. Travels are 555 mm in X, 160 mm in Y (plus or minus 80 mm) and 1,095 mm in Z, with 24 m/min rapid traverse in X and Z and 16 m/min in Y. The tailstock quill is 100 mm in diameter with 150 mm travel and a built-in MT4 dead centre. Control is the Fanuc 18i-TB. The machine stands 2,600 mm (102.4 in) high, occupies 4,520 x 2,300 mm and weighs about 11,500 kg (25,353 lb).
