Technical Description

The PUMA TT1800SY is the Y-axis version of Doosan's PUMA TT1800 twin-spindle, twin-turret CNC turning center, built so that two parts can be cut at once or a part can be transferred between the left and right spindles for complete machining, including off-centre milling and drilling. Each spindle has an A2-6 nose, a 110 mm front bearing, a 76 mm (3.0 in) inner diameter and 65 mm bar capacity, carries an 8-inch chuck and runs to 5,000 rpm on a 22 kW (29.5 hp) 30-minute / 15 kW continuous Fanuc motor, or 22/19.6 kW with Siemens, with C-axis indexing in 0.001-degree steps. Swing over the bed, maximum turning diameter and maximum turning length are each 230 mm (9.1 in). The upper and lower turrets have 24 stations each, take 20 x 20 mm OD tools and 32 mm boring bars, index in 0.15 s, and drive rotary tools at up to 5,000 rpm on a 5.5 kW motor. Travels are 165 mm (X1) and 190 mm (X2), 700 mm (Z1) and 720 mm (Z2), 100 mm in Y and 770 mm on the A axis; rapid traverse is 20 m/min in X, 40 m/min in Z and 7.5 m/min in Y. Control is the Fanuc 31i or Siemens 840D. The machine occupies 3,905 x 2,070 mm (153.7 x 81.5 in), stands 2,080 mm (81.9 in) high and weighs about 8,800 kg (19,400 lb).
