Technical Description

The Gildemeister CTX 510 is a horizontal CNC turning center, sold from the mid-2000s and later offered as the CTX 510 ecoline under DMG. It is the largest model of the CTX 310/410/510 family and is sized for chuck and shaft work up to 18.31 in (465 mm) turning diameter and 41.34 in (1,050 mm) turning length. The X-axis stroke is 11.81 in (300 mm) and the Z-axis stroke matches the 1,050 mm turning length. The machine has a single main spindle with a hydraulic chuck and a 12-station tool turret, and turret versions with driven tool stations were built for milling and drilling operations in the same setup. A programmable tailstock supports long shafts between centers. Controls, spindle drives and spindle bore varied between production versions: units have been supplied with Siemens Sinumerik 840D controls with ShopTurn programming, and dealer records also show FANUC-controlled units, so the control and spindle rating should be confirmed from the machine plate. Commonly fitted equipment on used machines includes a chip conveyor, a tool presetter arm, a bar-feed interface and a hydraulic steady rest. The CTX 510 is used for medium to large batch turning of flanges, shafts, hubs and housings in general engineering, automotive and energy component work, where its 465 mm turning diameter and 1,050 mm turning length cover a wide range of chucked and between-centers parts.
