Technical Description

The Mori Seiki NL1500SY/500 is a horizontal slant-bed CNC turn-mill center from the NL Series with two spindles, a Y-axis and a 12-station turret with rotary tools; the second headstock replaces the tailstock and travels 624 mm on its B-axis. Swing over bed is 923.8 mm (36.4 in), swing over cross slide is 755 mm (29.7 in), maximum turning diameter is 386 mm (15.2 in) with 20 mm tool shanks or 366 mm (14.4 in) with 25 mm shanks, and maximum turning length is 515 mm (20.2 in). Bar work capacity is 52 mm (2.0 in) through a 61 mm (2.4 in) spindle hole on a JIS A2-5 nose. Spindle 2 also has a JIS A2-5 nose and a 43 mm (1.7 in) through-hole. Spindle 1 runs to 6,000 rpm on an 11/11/7.5 kW (15/15/10 HP) motor rated 50%ED/30 min/continuous, and spindle 2 runs to 6,000 rpm on an 11/7.5 kW (15/10 HP) motor. Rotary tools reach 6,000 rpm on a 5.5 kW (7.5 HP) motor, and C-axis indexing is 0.001 degree. Travels are 260 mm in X, 590 mm in Z and 100 mm (plus or minus 50 mm) in Y, with 30 m/min rapid traverse in X, Z and B and 10 m/min in Y. The machine stands 2,120 mm (83.5 in) high on a 2,705 x 2,000 mm floor space and weighs 5,700 kg (12,540 lb).
