Technical Description
The DMG MORI NLX2500/700 is a slant-bed CNC turning center from the NLX series, which Mori Seiki launched in September 2010 as a full model change of its NL series lathes. The /700 suffix identifies the short-bed type, with roughly 700 mm of turning length; a /1250 long-bed type is also built. The series was offered in turning-only, milling (MC), Y-axis (Y) and sub-spindle versions, and each version uses its own dedicated platform. All axes run on slideways rather than linear guides for rigidity and heavy cutting, and the bed has coolant circulating inside it to control thermal displacement. The machine carries a 10-inch chuck on the main spindle, and X-axis travel is 260 mm. Milling versions use a BMT (Built-in Motor Turret) with rotary tools up to 10,000 rpm. The operating system is MAPPS on a Mitsubishi CNC; later machines add the CELOS interface on the ERGOline operation panel. Mori Seiki designed the first generation for automotive, construction machinery and hydraulic component work, and quoted a 22% smaller installation area than the NL series for the turning version. A second generation, introduced in 2024, raised bar capacity to 105 mm on both spindles and the main spindle speed to 5,000 rpm.
