Technical Description
The DMG MORI NT5400 DCG/1800SZ is the largest model in the NT DCG turn-mill series, built with DMG MORI's DCG (Driven at the Center of Gravity) design to suppress vibration during rapid axis moves. The SZ configuration adds a second spindle (S) and a lower turret 2 (Z) to the B-axis tool spindle, allowing simultaneous machining and complete front-and-back processing. Maximum swing is 920 mm (36.2 in), maximum turning diameter with the tool spindle is 920 mm (36.2 in), and maximum turning length is 1,921 mm (75.6 in). Spindle 1 uses a 15-inch chuck, has a 120 mm (4.7 in) through-spindle hole and a two-range wound spindle running to 2,400 rpm, driven by a 37/30 kW (50/40 HP) motor with a 45/37 kW high-output option. The B-axis tool spindle carries a Capto C8 taper as standard (BT50 or HSK-A100 optional) and runs to 8,000 rpm, fed by a 20-tool chain magazine expandable to 40 or 80 tools or a 139/179-tool rack. Floor space is about 6,605 x 4,492 mm with a machine height of 3,458 mm. The SZ version weighs 37,600 kg.
