Technical Description

The DMG MORI NTX1000S (first generation) is a compact turn-mill (multi-tasking) machine with a B-axis tool spindle for complete machining of small, complex parts. Maximum swing and maximum turning diameter are 370 mm (14.5 in), and maximum turning length is 424 mm (16.6 in). Spindle 1 has a JIS A2-5 nose, a 61 mm (2.4 in) through-spindle hole, 52 mm (2.0 in) bar capacity and a 6-inch chuck (8-inch optional), running to 6,000 rpm from an 11 kW (15 HP) motor rated 7.5 kW continuous. The tool spindle swivels ±120 degrees on the B-axis, runs to 12,000 rpm (20,000 rpm on the HSC version) with a Capto C5 taper, and draws from a 38-tool magazine expandable to 76 tools. Travels are X 380 mm, Y ±105 mm and Z 460 mm, with rapid traverse of 40 m/min on X and Y and 50 m/min on Z. Floor space is 2,554 x 2,701 mm excluding the chip conveyor, and machine height is 2,397 mm. The control is MAPPS IV on a Fanuc 31i-B platform. The S version adds a second spindle with a 38 mm (1.5 in) through hole, a 5-inch chuck and a 7.5 kW motor running to 6,000 rpm, allowing back-side machining in one setup. It weighs 8,450 kg.
